Full moon in Cancer on 30th of December, the Last Week of the year

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

Closure on this unusual year of 2020 comes with the full moon in the sign of Cancer. Full moon occurs when Sun and Moon are opposite each other, thus the Sun is able to fully illuminate the moon so she can bask in the reflected glory. This is a culmination of energies that were initiated two weeks ago with the current new moon as well as the new moon 6 months ago in Cancer (21 June).

Many parts of the world are in lockdown due to the pandemic, and so this Christmas was strenuous on families who would normally visit each other and who would typically abide by the rule. In the UK the first of restrictions (of this last session) have started on the 14th of December exactly with the New Moon. Since then, there is a clear opposition between rules, regulations and the society that is stuck at home isolated from friends and families.

"We may start the New Year with heightened feelings, but on the other hand with a sense of hope that this it is going to subside in the following weeks"

The chart of the full moon erected in London is on the axis of Scorpio and Taurus (finances) and the opposition takes place in the 3rd and 9th (journeys, education) house that again highlights UK’s position on Brexit negotiation in terms of the economy (Taurus and Scorpio) and also the travel restrictions between the roads of short journeys (Gemini) and long roads abroad (Sagittarius). We are also aware of the situation that took place in Dover where hundreds of stranded lorry drivers piled up due the news on the mutated virus. Mars is still violent with the square aspect to Pluto, there is an increased risk of bullying and aggressiveness coming from Pluto (power) in Capricorn (government). We are also aware that the army has been deployed to help the somewhat uneasy situation.

Mercury is still invisible and combust under the beams of the Sun in Capricorn. Although there is an agreement between EU and UK, many of people will be left frustrated because of travel control, professional qualifications and telecommunication issues, these areas are still wishy washy, not quite so clear cut just yet.

It is safe to say that the public is less than impressed by the late agreement (full Moon opposite combust Mercury) and the consequences are not quite visible (combust Mercury) just yet on the long term (Capricorn) economy. It is also very interesting to point out that the negotiations began in late June 2017 with the Cancer New Moon also with invisible and combust Mercury.

Was this negotiation doomed from the beginning?

Venus conjunct the South node on this day and the one after: party, pleasure and socialising will need to be let go of New Year’s celebrations, I’m afraid. With hard aspect to Neptune, it is going to cause some disappointment for sure. It is time for some quiet reflection in a home spa making yourself feel better. The only positive, helpful aspect is Uranus’ supportive sextile and trine to the opposing illuminators of the sky. Technology and innovation (Uranus) are going to be the answer and solution for our evolved situation.

As a conclusion in retrospection, with the help of Uranus, the bumpy road between public (Moon) and authority (Sun) could be smoothed out by innovating, reinventing wealth and worth, finances and comfort, economy and the value of the Earth.

We have got no other choice but this one and we shall make the best of it!
